RMG cranes
Rail-mounted gantry cranes form the heart of container handling areas. VAHLE solutions ensure reliable power and data transmission for automatic control.
Power transmission and positioning systems for RMG cranes
No container handling center can do without a gantry crane. The electricity that drives the electric motors of the crane and trolley regularly flows via motorized cable reels. With cable, transformer and steel superstructure, the two-track machines are so heavy and massive that they can only travel on steel rails.
Due to the enormous amount of energy required to move heavy rail mounted gantry (RMG) cranes, they are typically limited to slower travel speeds. To overcome this challenge, VAHLE offers not only motorized cable reels but also electrification via conductor rails.
In this case, the crane is supplied with power by a movable telescopic arm. This allows us to not only reduce the maintenance effort, but also the power consumption. In combination with our solutions for data transmission and positioning, the entire system can also be automated and remotely controlled in a fail-safe manner.
