The advantages of contactless and
maintenance-free power transmission, as already used for many purposes
in the field of FTS vehicles, are now available for electrical monorail
systems, which are widely used in the automotive industry. The system
developed VAHLE especially for this application with outgoing and
return conductors (two-conductor principle) has proven its
capability especially in terms of its outstanding EMF and EMC
characteristics.

Position Recognition
To be able to detect the current position of
the electrical monorail system vehicle, the use of th path-detection
system WCS by Pepperl & Fuchs is recommended. With a U-shaped
sensor head, a coded rail is scanned optoelectronically with a precise
resolution also without contact. Via a serial RS485 interface, the
position value can be transmitted directly to the controller without
contact with the help of the VAHLE Powercom CPS® data transmission
system.
