New partner in Canada Print
Dienstag, 27 Juli 2010

Vahle is happy to present the company Rotalec as its new official partner in Canada.

Rotalec is well presented with 5 sales offices and nearly 60 employees across Canada.

Rotalec´s president Mr. Robert Tayler explained:
“Rotalec is a Canadian based engineering and sales agency, providing access to the Canadian m rketplace for manufacturers of specialized niche technical products. Typically, these technical products require considerable knowledge and expertise for successful imple mentation, expertise w hich is not commonly available. Therefore, it is the quality and level of education of the human resources that is particularly attractive to the manufacturers, who contract Rotalec’s services.

Because many of the activities performed by Rotalec appear identical to those of a do mestic "distributor", Rotalec is frequently confused with this type of business. However, in reality, the most successful and lasting business relationships between Rotalec and its suppliers are those in which Rotalec performs all the tasks and duties of the m a nufacturer in the m arket it serves.

Effectively, Rotalec’s customers expect to obtain fro m Rotalec all the services nor mally provided by the m a nufacturer in its own home market.”
Rotalec has been involved with supplying products and services for 10 aluminium smelters. We are happy to strengthen our market presence in Canada with a well set up company like Rotalec and it´s experienced engineers.

"Fill-up" with electricity – without cable and plug Print

VAHLE development establishes new standard for electro mobility

The automobile industry faces great challenges: cars must be environmentally friendly, comfortable and economical. The topic electro mobility therefore becomes a major focal point. This was also the case at the International Automobile Exhibition (IAA) 2009 in Frankfurt, Germany where VAHLE could demonstrate its technology leadership with prototypes leading into a new era. With the inductive current transmission CPS® VAHLE offers a revolutionary solution: "We have mastered this technology, have utilized it several hundred times with material handling installations and we are the world leader in this technology segment" states technical director Michael Pavlidis.  elektromobilitaet_01.gif
elektromobilitaet_03.gif If one wants to drive a electric car today one must use a charging cable and find an outlet to "fill-up". This process will take several hours, moreover, even a fully charged battery has a limited range. Contrast this with VAHLE’s revolutionary solution: a contactless charging system based on the CPS® product line. Charging stations for electric vehicles may be installed in parking lots and in garages installed invisible and protected below the concrete surface. The vehicle’s batteries can be charged without having a direct connection when it is parked above the charging conductor cable or even when it drives over it, so there is now wasted time charging batteries. The vehicle need not be positioned precisely above the charging cable a postioning tolerance has been engineered into the system. The current transfer uses the induction principle similar to a transformer. The primary is the conductor cable embedded at the charging station in the floor. The secondary is a pick up installed on the vehicle. The current in the primary cable generates a magnetic field which induces current in the pick up; this current is used to charge the batteries
Contactless energy transfer systems offer a multitude of decisive advantages, e.g. very simplified battery charging; potentially hazardous connecting cable and plugs are completely omitted and obviously need not to be carried in the vehicle; above ground charging stations are not needed thus the system is accident and vandal proof. Technical director Pavlidis reiterated the VAHLE breakthrough innovation which incidentally was successfully tested with streetcars: "Since there is now plug-in connection to charge the batteries, there can be no wear or willful damage. We are in a position to engineer the system for absolutely reliable every day use." That VAHLE is in the forefront of the new technology is evidenced by the fact VAHLE is a member of a standard specifications commission originated by the Government of the German Federal Republic. The members, which included also leading automobile manufacturers, agreed preceeding the IAA on a so called low field standard to eliminate hazards, such as possibly developing heat which could occur during charging. VAHLE was the only IAA exhibitor who could show fully functioning prototypes which already confirm to this new standard.  http://www.vahle.de/vahleassets//news/E_Mobil/IET_090908.swf|best|false||true||opaque|sameDomain|true

Cavotec MSL and Vahle Group enter into worldwide cooperation Print
Dienstag, 29 September 2009

Cavotec MSL and Vahle Group are pleased to announce the start of a cooperation between the two companies with the intention to supply new innovative systems to the Ports & Maritime industry.

“We see this combined effort as a classic example of a mutually beneficial agreement,” said Ottonel Popesco, CEO of Cavotec MSL. “By marketing the full Vahle festoon range, and in particular their new, fully automated E-RTG system, we are able to offer our customers an even more complete package than ever before.”

Under this cooperation both Cavotec and Vahle will start to market systems to the Ports & Maritime industry in geographical regions where no prior exclusive representation agreements existed.

“This new agreement with Cavotec MSL will allow us to further expand our presence in the Ports & Maritime industry,” say Michael Pavlidis and Dirk Korn, MD’s of Vahle. “The synergies between both Vahle and Cavotec in this important market are obvious”.

Based in Kamen, Germany, Vahle is the first company worldwide to develop an automated entry system into the container alleys without the need for additional manual connection to the conductor bar. Efficient, fast and reliable, quiet and environmentally friendly are the characteristics of this new system.

The automated telescope arm is simply controlled via a touchpad in the RTG driver’s cabin; further advantages lie with the very short entry and exit times into the alley and in the low space requirements of the 2+2 powerrail assembly.

Global engineering group, Cavotec MSL has led the field in the development and manufacture of electric motorised cable reels in the ports and maritime sector for more than four decades. Pioneering electric cable reels for horizontal and vertical applications, the Group also produces a range of RTG ready cable reels and power connectors.
